Aiming to strengthen their “Small Town Pride,” the City of Altamont partnered with TESSERE to develop a master plan for a future community recreation area and park on a 20‑acre undeveloped site at the northwest corner of Huston and McMillen Avenues.
After extensive community research and several information gathering sessions with residents and stakeholders, TESSERE created a comprehensive master plan tailored to the community’s needs and aspirations. The plan features phased concepts for a new field house with basketball and volleyball courts, an exercise room, youth room, meeting space, and indoor track. Outdoor elements include a multi‑purpose sports field for football, soccer, baseball, and softball, a community event lawn, parking areas, dog park, playground, spray ground, picnic shelters, multi‑purpose trail, restrooms, and a pollinator garden.
Grounded in the priorities expressed by Altamont residents, the master plan supports the City’s goal of creating a recreational destination that serves both everyday community use and youth sports. The new facilities will give local teams a true “home” venue, reducing the need for families to travel to neighboring towns for leagues and games, while providing a welcoming gathering place for all ages.
