TESSERE provided full architectural and engineering services for this specialty hospital in northeast Wichita, Kansas. Formed by a cardiologist and a cardiac surgeon, the facility delivers state‑of‑the‑art cardiovascular care. The original 47,000‑square‑foot hospital included 22 patient beds, three operating rooms, ten ICU beds, and two Cath Labs, as well as inpatient suites, recovery areas, a surgery suite, pharmacy, laboratory, and other essential support spaces.
A 9,490‑square‑foot expansion was later completed to add four ICU rooms, a Pre‑Op area, an additional Cath Lab, a fourth operating room, and ten more patient rooms. An additional 8,000‑square‑foot expansion introduced a conference room, locker and lounge areas, a CT scanner, and quality‑assurance spaces. The cafeteria was also upgraded and remodeled to improve staff and patient experience.
Adjacent to the hospital, the Kansas Heart Office Plaza is a 50,500‑square‑foot medical office building that houses two cardiology groups and a surgical practice. The facility includes shared lobby and waiting areas, exam and diagnostic rooms, treatment rooms, and administrative spaces such as a business office, transcription office, and filing room.
The design thoughtfully coordinated shared spaces between the three practices while creating clearly defined areas tailored to the needs of each group, ensuring both efficiency and a cohesive patient experience.
