Student Athlete Center

With significant growth in both student‑athlete participation and support staff over the past decade, Wichita State University’s athletic department engaged TESSERE to develop a comprehensive program, floor plans, and renderings for expanded administrative space and a new Student Athlete Center. Together, these facilities support approximately 300 student‑athletes competing across 15 teams, along with 100 coaches and staff members.

The new two‑story, 35,900‑square‑foot Student Athlete Center provides a wide range of resources focused on academic success, wellness, and athletic performance. The building includes a dedicated student study area with a computer lab, open study hall, and tutoring spaces, as well as meeting rooms and a nutrition area. Additional program elements include track and field locker rooms, a weight room, and offices for the track and field coaching staff.

The Student Athlete Center connects directly to Koch Arena through a new elevated skybridge, linking it to a two‑story, 13,620‑square‑foot renovation of the arena’s administration and office spaces.
