Committed to strengthening their partnership with Wichita State University, NetApp relocated its Wichita headquarters to the Innovation Campus, creating an environment where employees, students, faculty, and researchers can collaborate on technological innovations and applied learning opportunities. The new 168,000‑square‑foot facility includes secured areas that support 24/7 operations, featuring both digital and hands‑on testing environments. These include a data center with IT equipment, a bench laboratory for prototype testing, a large flexible training room with garage doors that open into the central “mall” space, and 420 data servers housed in white data racks. Additional spaces include open office environments, conference rooms, project rooms, and break rooms.
The central spine of the facility, known as the “mall,” serves as a unique public gathering space. Visitors can walk through this corridor to access the cafeteria and an outdoor lawn featuring stepped terrace seating, a sport court, and a reflecting pond. The outdoor area also connects to the future Convergence Sciences building. The café is open to the public as well, reinforcing the building’s role as a welcoming hub that brings people together.
