TESSERE developed the original program for the facility and was then awarded the design for what resulted in a new 22,00-square-foot
testing facility called the Advanced Virtual Engineering and Testing Lab (AVET). It was formally dedicated as the Jerry Moran Center in 2021.
Located on Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus, is home to several dynamic testing facilities that enable the National Institute
for Aviation Research (NIAR) to conduct research in emerging transportation technologies. This facility has three client-specific
areas consisting of a test article preparation room, work areas, and conference room. A virtual lab space provides a large open office
with enclosed conference rooms and multiple workstations for running tests virtually. The remaining space within the facility includes
the control room that serves the Hydropuls CSA advanced crash simulation system, ATD (crash test dummy) calibration laboratory
and component test laboratory. Storage mezzanines have also been provided throughout the building to assist with physical testing equipment.
