The 21,062-square-foot P-111 Navy Operational Support Center Project at NAS Fallon provides space for Navy Reserve Force personnel to train for a full range of peace and warfighting operations.
The exterior appearance of the building was created to reflect and compliment the surrounding existing facilities, and at the same time, upgrade the visual image of the base. This building provides dual access points at each end of the quarterdeck, a point of security and check in. The remainder of the building spaces are accessed from this secure point. The quarterdeck is accentuated by a taller volume of space and has plenty of natural lighting from clerestory translucent panels.
The entire building can house a total occupancy of 126 personnel at one time. The administrative space was designed for occupancy of 10 full-time staff. Separate work areas and individual offices were provided to accommodate six separate functioning Naval Reserve Units. One of the units provides for medical services, including physician and dental care, blood draw, and urine analysis. The medical area has two full-time medical staff.
A large drill hall space was provided to accommodate a population of approximately 118. This space is versatile and will be utilized for drills, lectures, and color guard. The space has been designed acoustically to handle a multitude of groups of various sizes. This space is also tall in volume and is illuminated with plenty of natural light. The building provides two classrooms and one distance learning center that resembles a computer lab.
