Rock Hill Veterans Administration

Rock Hill, SC

The VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Rock Hill, SC is a new 26,500 SF, one-story, ground-up building with site improvements for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System. The project is located on six acres in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The building and site are designed to achieve Green Globes sustainable certification. The program for the facility includes mental health, women patient services, procedure rooms and general outpatient services. The building facility includes 30 exam spaces, procedure room, telehealth, and behavioral health areas. The design is based on the VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) principles – Patient-Centered Care, Coordination of Care and Access to Care. The goal was to create an environment supportive of patient-oriented care based on the needs of Veterans. The Clinic brings different medical teams together under one roof. This intention is also to create a more efficient environment for the staff through centralized and collaborative work spaces close to examination rooms.

Project Details

The design includes provisions for adaptability and flexibility to meet future VA needs. The roof deck heights are sufficient to allow reconfiguration of mechanical, fire protection, and electrical systems in the space above ceilings, if necessary. Primary mechanical and electrical systems, and electrical switchgear, have expansion capacity to add mechanical air distribution boxes, electrical outlets, or lights without upgrading the central plant.
