Lee's Summit Fire Station 4

Lee's Summit, MO

TESSERE partnered with the City of Lee’s Summit to design a replacement facility for Fire Station 4, one of the City’s oldest fire stations and a critical service point for the northern limits of the community. The existing station no longer met current design standards and lacked the space necessary to support modern fire department operations.

Due to land cost and availability, Fire Station 4 was designed on a compact site of one acre. This constraint required a highly efficient two-story configuration to accommodate all operational, living, and support functions. To maximize design and construction efficiencies, the station was developed as part of a single prototypical fire station design.

The project incorporates current best practices in contaminant control, commonly referred to as Hot Zone design, to minimize firefighter exposure to hazardous materials. In addition, the design integrates methodologies focused on improving mental and behavioral health while reducing sleep deprivation. Crew health and wellness remain a top priority and continue to guide design decisions across TESSERE’s fire station projects.

Throughout all phases of the project, TESSERE worked hand-in-hand with the Construction Manager to thoughtfully evaluate design solutions, cost feasibility, and constructability, ensuring Fire Station 4 met both operational and budget goals.
