Kansas City Kansas Community College – Centennial Hall

Working with Kansas City Kansas Community College, our developer-driven, design-build team constructed a new student housing complex to increase the quality of living for students on the west side of campus. The new housing features four stories with 73 apartment units that include 260 sleeping rooms with walkout apartment options in the basement. Among the amenities included are a multi-media lounge with eGaming, laundry facilities, various study rooms and spaces, multiple multipurpose meeting spaces, increased storage space in each apartment, ADA compliance, and a mail distribution area. The project also includes an interior FEMA-rated tornado shelter in the basement.

 

Project Details

Exterior amenities include outdoor fire places, grilling areas, open patio seating, a half-court basketball court, large amphitheater, and relaxing hammock grove. This project included a new wraparound drive from the parking area to the entrance of the building, then onto the existing street. There were complicated utility reroutes included in the design for this project. There was also existing parking lot rehabilitation work as well as storm water routing through the public right-of-way as part of the scope.
