Patient safety was the top design priority for this conversion project, especially given the extensive use of glass in the existing structure. To address this, TESSERE’s design replaced all inpatient room windows with laminated glass and applied 3M safety film to remaining exterior windows, significantly reducing risk and enhancing security for behavioral health patients.
TESSERE led the conversion and renovation of the two‑story, 62,000‑square‑foot nursing home into a fully functioning behavioral health hospital. The project also included the construction of a new single‑story, 7,000‑square‑foot outpatient building in Phoenix, Arizona. Social spaces, both interior and exterior, were thoughtfully designed.
