New Primary Fire Station
Positioned near the area of Derby’s most active growth, this building serves as the City of Derby’s primary fire and administration station. Located adjacent to a school and residential neighborhood, TESSERE designed a traditional brick and stone station to blend seamlessly into the surrounding community. The site also includes a large park space featuring a sculpture honoring local firefighters.
TESSERE provided design services for the 23,163‑square‑foot station. The building includes administrative offices for the fire chief, fire marshal, deputy chief, and firefighters. Additional spaces include a training room, conference room, restrooms, day room, fitness room, locker rooms, a kitchen, and nine bunks for firefighters. The station’s four apparatus bays are designed without interior columns, allowing flexible parking for four to eight fire trucks and providing ample space for firefighters to maneuver.
