Police Academy

The Kansas City Police Department set an ambitious vision for its new training campus, seeking a state‑of‑the‑art environment equipped with advanced technology to support a wide range of training needs. After conducting a nationwide review of comparable facilities, TESSERE designed an academy composed of flexible classrooms and immersive virtual training environments that not only met but exceeded KCPD’s expectations.

The completed 107,000‑square‑foot training academy sits on 132‑acres in Kansas City, Missouri. The campus features indoor and outdoor firing ranges, administrative and storage space, a 1.2‑mile driving course, a central energy plant, and a dedicated simulation building. Additional amenities include fitness and weight rooms, a gymnasium, locker rooms, indoor and outdoor running tracks, a video production suite, a 500‑seat auditorium, and adaptable high‑tech classrooms.
