Boys & Girls Club

When community leaders had a vision to improve and expand Boys & Girls Club in Wichita, they found a natural fit on Opportunity Drive. This new facility became an anchor for the new Empowerment Zone, a thriving neighborhood, and now serves to ensure a safe and fun environment for children.

The 41,200-square-foot facility contains areas for study, dining and game room activities. Space consists of classrooms and recreational areas including a gymnasium, sports field, high-tech art room, music room, and theater, as well as administrative space and flexible gathering areas.

The project includes a large gymnasium/multipurpose room with adjacent lockers and shower facilities. An outdoor sports field was designed adjacent to the building. It consists of a full-size football/soccer field with three smaller soccer fields running crosswise. A drainable, artificial turf system was utilized. The development includes lighting, scoreboard, and bleachers.

In addition, the Jordan Haines Multipurpose Facility includes a basketball court with bleachers, shower and locker rooms, a performance stage, and an adjacent “disc jockey” area for teen dances.
