Plumbers and Pipefitters Training Center

TESSERE worked with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 441 to transform a 45,000-square-foot former retail box store into a modern, state-of-the-art training facility serving the Wichita area. The single-story building houses workforce development programs for welding, pipefitting, plumbing, and HVAC trainees.

The project involved a complete interior renovation, with the existing space fully reimagined to support hands-on learning and instruction. The redesigned layout includes dedicated training areas, classrooms, labs, offices, weld shops, a pipefitting shop, and break areas, to support efficient instruction and day-to-day operations. The building entrance was reconfigured to create a more welcoming arrival experience for students and visitors, while new windows, fire protection, and ventilation systems enhance safety, comfort, and performance throughout the facility.

Exterior and site improvements further reinforce the building’s new identity and functionality. Sitework included upgraded parking and the addition of a fenced storage area, while exterior enhancements feature fresh paint and a prominent 12-foot-plus illuminated logo sign, making the facility highly visible from the nearby highway and reinforcing the Union’s presence in the community.
