TESSERE partnered with the Kansas Department of Transportation in Winfield, Kansas to design and deliver a new 12,800‑square‑foot maintenance facility serving as headquarters for approximately 26 maintenance and construction crew members.
The building includes 8,900 square feet of conditioned, waterproof truck storage bays capable of holding up to eight vehicles, parts, and tools. The remaining space functions as administrative office areas for the crew and supervisor, including a meeting room, restrooms, break room, storage, tool room, reception area, laboratory, and lab storage. A mechanical mezzanine was incorporated to maximize usable space on the main floor.
Site improvements included new parking, paving for vehicle circulation, lighting, and landscape enhancements. Construction began in 2019 and was completed in 2020. This facility is one of several subarea complexes TESSERE has designed for KDOT.
