USD 443 Dodge City - Administration Building

Dodge City, KS

After leading the Dodge City School District to a successful bond referendum in 2015, TESSERE was selected to provide architectural services for a wide range of renovations, additions, and new construction across multiple campuses, including an entirely new high school. The extensive scope of work included new classrooms, gymnasiums, a vocational/technology center, concession areas, storm‑shelter‑rated locker rooms, cafeterias, a 2,400‑seat field house, indoor practice facilities, and an 850‑seat performing arts auditorium.

Following the completion of the district‑wide bond projects, USD 443 engaged TESSERE once again, this time to design a new 54,000‑square‑foot administration facility. Years in the making, the project required close coordination with both the City of Dodge City and the Kansas Air National Guard, whose operations neighbor the site. Envisioned as both a community center and the new administrative home for the district, the building was strategically designed to connect to the historic Dodge City Civic Center, a 1950s‑era community landmark.

This thoughtful placement strengthens the Civic Center’s ability to host district and community events, including regional conventions, while creating a cohesive civic campus that supports Dodge City’s long‑term community goals.
