Northwest Water Treatment Facility

Wichita, KS

The Northwest Water Treatment Facility is a new water treatment plant designed to serve up to 120 million gallons of drinking water per day to the City of Wichita, surrounding communities, industries, and wholesale customers. Developed to replace the City’s aging Main Water Treatment Plant, the project, led by Burns & McDonnell, represents a critical investment in reliable, long‑term water infrastructure. TESSERE’s scope focused exclusively on the design of the Maintenance Building within the larger campus.

TESSERE’s work was completed within the framework established by Burns & McDonnell’s overarching design team, creating a unique collaborative structure. Key features include a reinforced concrete mezzanine for high-capacity storage of heavier materials, severe weather protection and a roof‑suspended 3‑ton bridge crane to support safe and efficient material handling. Through close coordination, TESSERE delivered a maintenance facility that meets immediate operational needs and contributes to the success of the City of Wichita’s water infrastructure for years to come.
