Master plan and terminal building improvements

For more than three decades, TESSERE has supported the continued growth and success of Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, formerly Wichita Mid‑Continent Airport. As associate architect for the airport’s new terminal, TESSERE helped deliver a design that aligned with the airport’s master plan and complied with Federal Aviation Administration’s regulations.

The new terminal and concourse span approximately 273,400 square feet and accommodates nearly one million passenger departures each year. Gates are capable of serving 10 large commercial aircraft, and the architectural character celebrates themes of flight and aviation through thoughtfully selected materials, products, and exhibit elements. The project also included the demolition of the previous terminal, as well as redevelopment of access roads and parking facilities.

As the airport remained fully operational throughout construction, all work was carefully planned and executed to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 operations.
