Coffeyville Community College Wellness Center

Coffeyville Community College is a comprehensive two-year public institution of post-secondary learning located in rural southeast Kansas. The College received a donation toward a wellness center to serve the students at the College and the surrounding community at large. TESSERE was successful in our response to the request for qualifications and began in earnest programming the new facility. Located in an area of the country susceptible to tornadoes, the creation of a storm shelter was high in the list of priorities for the College. In addition, a close partnership with the local hospital for collaboration within a Wellness Center was another key element to the project.

Project Details

The Wellness Center site has significant existing utility constraints which led to a long, rectilinear, two story floor plan, which ended up working well for the desired program. The proposed 71,000-square-foot Center includes a multi-court gymnasium with an elevated walking track, that doubles as a storm shelter, a physical therapy gym, a weight/cardio room, athletic training, treatment and evaluation, a student health center, student bookstore, a juice bar, an esports venue, a rock-climbing wall and multiple meeting rooms and classroom space.
