Barclay College Wellness Center

This multi‑use wellness center is designed to serve both Barclay College and the broader Haviland community. Envisioned with a welcoming “student union” atmosphere, the facility is a destination for students and residents alike, featuring a gym and fitness center, student education spaces, office areas, and a variety of retail and dining options.

At the heart of the building is a regulation‑size gymnasium that replaced the College’s deteriorating facility to host basketball and volleyball events. Supporting amenities include men’s and women’s locker rooms for home and visiting teams, coaches’ and referees’ locker rooms, and a dedicated team room for film review. A second‑level walking track encircles the gym, along with a fitness center accessible to students, staff, athletes, and community members. The facility offers a safe, year‑round exercise environment which is valuable to Haviland’s growing senior population.

The second floor houses departmental offices, labs, and instructional spaces for the College’s nursing program. A large outdoor patio overlooking the soccer field provides an attractive venue for campus events and rentable community gatherings.

The main level features a lobby designed with a “Main Street” feel, offering retail and dining spaces, including a college bookstore, to create a welcoming hub for studying, socializing, shopping, and relaxing during campus and community events. Restrooms throughout the facility are hardened to function as public storm shelters when needed.
